Athena History

Athena Brazil is located in São José do Rio Preto in the State of São Paulo, Brazil.

The name of the company finds its origins in Greece and pays tribute to the mythological figure of Athena. Known as the protectress of agriculture, Athena was also known as the embodiment of skilled work. It is this attribute that the company Athena Brazil relates most strongly to as it strives to support and promote exceptional skills in its employees in order to produce the finest quality cuttings available.

Athena Brazil (with its original name of Athena Mudas) began production in December of 1998 and is the vision of owners Lucilene Anatriello and Jairo Schmidt. In partnership with its co-owners in the United States, the company was started with the goal of providing superior quality cuttings to a demanding customer base. Starting with one greenhouse location, Athena Brazil steadily expanded and grew into three locations.

Athena Today

Athena today remains under the same ownership and management and is one of the largest suppliers of unrooted cuttings in South America. There are currently several hundred varieties being produced. Athena Brazil transports unrooted cuttings from its three high-quality greenhouse locations in weekly, year-round shipments to the United States, Europe and Asia. An international team of trained horticulturists with years of industry experience head a workforce 250 employees including agricultural engineers, production employees, psychologists and administrators. This cohesive team is the lifeblood of Athena Brazil.
